Pool Deck Repair and Sealing
Not every tired pool deck needs replacing. We fix sunken or raised pavers, cracked concrete and failing coatings, refill joints, and clean and seal pavers and travertine so the deck looks and works better.

Who this is for
This is for owners whose deck has a specific problem, not a general wish for something new. A low spot that holds water. Pavers that rock or trip someone. A crack that keeps growing. Coating that peels in sheets. Joints that have washed out and sprouted weeds.
In South Florida, deck problems often start with water. Heavy summer rain washes out joint sand and the base beneath. Sun and heat break down coatings and sealers. Tree roots lift slabs. Salt air and cleaning chemicals wear on stone. Small problems get worse quickly when they are left.
We start by finding the cause. A paver that sank because of a leak or washout will sink again if we only reset it. If repair will not hold, we say so and point you to Deck Resurfacing or Pavers & Travertine.
Options, honestly compared
Reset sunken or raised pavers
Lift the affected area, fix the base, relay the stone and refill joints. Cost depends on how large the area is and why it moved.
Crack and concrete repair
Hairline cracks are cleaned and filled with a flexible material. Larger or shifting cracks may need cutting, patching or section replacement. Repairs on a moving slab can reopen.
Failing coating repair
Spot repair works only if the rest of the coating is sound. If it is peeling across large areas, stripping and recoating, or Deck Resurfacing, is usually the better answer.
Clean, re-sand and seal
Pressure clean carefully, refill joints with the right sand, then seal. Different stones and pavers need different sealers, and some finishes look wet or glossy. We test a small area first.
How the work runs
Find the cause
We look at drainage, leaks, roots, downspouts and irrigation before touching a paver.
Mark and scope
We map the problem areas and tell you which fixes are likely to hold and which are temporary.
Repair the base or slab
Fix the water path, rebuild the base where needed, patch or cut cracks and prepare surfaces.
Reset, refill and rejoint
Pavers go back in line, joints are filled and compacted, and movement joints are renewed.
Clean and seal
Clean thoroughly, let the surface dry, then seal using a product suited to your material and conditions.

Why pavers sink or lift
The usual causes are washed-out base, poor compaction, a leaking pipe or pool plumbing, a downspout dumping next to the deck, and tree roots. Rain does a lot of the damage because it carries sand out through open joints.
Resetting without fixing the cause gives you a deck that looks good for a season. If we suspect a leak, we will say so and suggest it be checked by the right trade before work goes on.
Cracked concrete: repair or replace
Thin cracks are often cosmetic. Cracks that offset, so one side sits higher than the other, are a trip hazard and often mean the base is moving. Filling them hides the symptom, not the cause.
Where a slab section has broken up, cutting out and replacing that piece can be cheaper than redoing the deck, though the new concrete will not match the old in color. Coating the whole deck afterward can unify it.
Joint sand, cleaning and sealing
Joint sand locks pavers together. When it washes out, edges chip, weeds grow and water gets in. Polymer or specialty sand can hold better in heavy rain, though no product is permanent.
Sealing is not magic. It helps resist stains, can enhance color and slows joint erosion, but it must be reapplied over time. Sealing too soon after cleaning, or over trapped moisture, can leave a cloudy surface. Timing and product matter.
The expansion joint at the coping
Where the deck meets the pool coping, a flexible joint lets each part move. When it is hard, cracked or missing, rain gets under the coping and the edge begins to loosen. Cleaning it out and refilling with the right material is one of the cheapest, most useful repairs on any pool deck.

Can sunken pavers be fixed without replacing the deck?
Often yes. The area is lifted, the base fixed and the stone reset. If a leak or washout caused it, that must be fixed first.
How often should pavers or travertine be sealed?
It depends on the product, sun, rain and traffic. We explain what applies to your material instead of giving one number for everything. Decks in full sun, under trees or near the coast can all need different timing.
Will repaired concrete match the rest?
Not exactly. New concrete looks different from old. A coating over the whole deck can even it out.
Is it worth repairing an old coating?
Spot repair is fine for small failures on an otherwise solid coating. If it is peeling widely, recoating is usually the sounder choice.
Do weeds in the joints mean something is wrong?
They mean the joints are open or full of debris. Re-sanding and sealing helps keep them out. If the joints keep emptying, there is often water moving under or across the deck that needs attention too.
Do you need photos first?
Photos and the address help us give a useful first answer. Request a quote and send a few pictures of the problem areas, plus the address and a short note on when you first noticed the problem. A photo taken after rain, showing where water sits, is especially useful.
